Travel for Music Festival
After months of wrangling, haggling, and no little amount of mither, Drop in the Ocean - the wildly successful all-day music festival that took the city by storm in January 2005 - has announced its long-awaited return: Sunday June 11th 2006.
Anyone with a concert voucher will get free travel on trams and buses (CityRider ticket) all day on Sunday June 11th. Just present your voucher to the driver or conductor and exchange it for a CityRider ticket.
Like the previous event, all profits generated on the day will be going to charity. 50% of the profits will go to the Lord Mayor's Earthquake Appeal, and 50% to build a shelter in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for child victims of sexual and domestic abuse.

Help out at 'Drop in the Ocean 2006'
With less than
seven weeks to go before Nottingham's biggest musical
festival ever, it goes without saying that the city is certainly
gearing
itself up for the occasion. A massive line up of venues and
acts is
currently being pieced together for the follow-up to last year's
hugely
successful Drop In The Ocean festival.
This year, half of all the proceeds raised will go directly to the Lord Mayor's Earthquake Appeal. The Appeal has already managed to raise an impressive £70,000 and this could not have been achieved without the help and generous support of Council staff. However, there's now a very desperate need for volunteers, mainly to run the doors at venues and as you can imagine, this is absolutely crucial to the success of the festival.
At least two people per venue are needed to sell wristbands, allow entry to people who already have wristbands, sell t-shirts and act as a point of contact with the venue manager. Don't worry - you won't be a bouncer.
Judging by the feedback from last year's volunteers, it's highly likely that you'll have an absolutely fantastic time. You'll be handsomely rewarded too - not only will you be given free entry to the festival and official t-shirt, you'll even get your bus fare home paid for.
To register your interest in volunteering for Drop, please send an email to: getinvolved@dropintheocean.org as soon as possible.
