Trams – with extra bells on
Nottingham Express Transit passengers will be hearing more bells than usual this May Day when Morris Dancers take to the tram system.
The Foresters Morris Men begin their summer season of dancing
on Monday May 1 at the crack of dawn. If you can’t
get up that early you can catch them later, on the tram route.
NET and the Foresters have teamed up to give travellers some music and Morris dancing, as well as clog dancing from the Greenwood Clog dancers.
Squire of the Morris Dancers Stewart Thompson said: "In previous years passengers have welcomed the joyful spectacle of Morris Dancing while they went about their daily business. We are happy to be entertaining them again on May Day”.
The Morris Dancers will be at the following locations on Monday May 1, 2006:
- 05.15 - Morris and Clog Dancing and dawn celebrations
The Robin Hood Statue, Nottingham Castle (Old Market Square) - 09.30 - Morris and Clog Dancing
Outside The Theatre Royal (Royal Centre)
At other times they will be on the trams and dancing at the tram stops.
