Bestwood Park and Mill Lakes - a natural haven from modern life

Mill LakesThe 650 acres that make up Bestwood Park are bursting with unusual and rare wildlife, yet it is only a short tram ride from the fast–pace of the city. From the waterbirds of Mill Lakes and meadows full of wildflowers, to ancient oak woodland and a reclaimed pit, Bestwood has a landscape which reflects the varied history of Nottinghamshire itself.

Newstead AbbeyStart at Hucknall tram stop, walk alongside Leen Valley Golf course and then through Bestwood Village and Country Park on the Bestwood footpath.

Explore Big Wood, then either head back to Butler's Hill (red route) or head south to Bulwell Forest (blue route).

The BowmanThe red route takes you north through the beautiful Mill Lakes, back to Butler's Hill, where you could stop for a reviving drink in Beer by Tram The Bowman. The blue route follows a disused railway line south and includes a drink in the Beer by Tram Newstead Abbey pub before reaching Bulwell Forest tram stop.
