It’s a Grand Night For Singing

The show tells the life story of Richard Rodgers, one of the most prodigious and sophisticated song writers of the American Theatre. It starts off with his collaboration with Lorenz Hart in the early part of the twentieth century, including such shows as A Connecticut Yankee, Babes in Arms and Pal Joey, with songs such as Blue Moon, With a Song in my Heart, My Funny Valentine and many, many more. Act Two mainly deals with Rodgers and Hammerstein II, with shows like Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The Sound of Music and other such great theatrical experiences. It will also include songs written in collaboration with other lyricists, including Rodgers himself.
Crisis in the Life of Norbert Grimshaw (HotHouse Theatre)

Four actors tell the story of Norbert Grimshaw, an accountant with a passion for paper clips. He is an obsessive character, doing everything by numbers, even courting his secretary. The story is told with the help of two voices who share the narrative at first, but as things start to go wrong for Norbert; his secretary dumps him and then he meets the angel of death at the bus stop who gives him one month to live. The voices become voices in his head as he tries to make the most the time he has left.

Kate is moving to a new house. Her family is all packed up and ready to go, but when it comes to the moving day, can she leave her friends, her school and more importantly can she leave Mr Blue Sky? This wonderfully inventive and visually beautiful piece of theatre combines mask, music and dance to take us on a magical journey into the world of an imaginary friend.

Using nothing but a wooden chair, dark glasses, apposite lighting and now a beautifully haunting soundscape by Matt Clifford, Guy Masterson performs the entire work – playing all 69 characters men & women, girls and boys himself! It is unbelievably recreated and entirely enchanting. Described by the London Times during Masterson’s West End run in 1997 as, “one of the most inventive, remarkable performances of the decade”, Masterson’s interpretation premiered at The Traverse Theatre Edinburgh in February 1994 and subsequently played at the Assembly Rooms at Edinburgh Festivals 1994, 1996, 2000 and 2003.

Outspeak Multimedia Art Exhibition: Ian Nesbit

‘Outspeak’ is a collaborative project between video installation
artist Ian Nesbitt and members of Nottingham’s homeless community.
The artist has worked with participants to create snapshots of their lives
over a three month period, which will be displayed alongside the artist’s
own response to the experience.

One of the most popular nights of the week, hosted by The 3 Amigo’s. This event has been a regular night for over twelve months at the Running Horse, and gives bands, solo artists, comedians, poetry readers, anything really as long as it is entertaining, the opportunity to test out new material for the first time in front of a crowd and on a stage.
