From the Marketing Manager...
Firstly, a big thank you to all of you who completed our first web survey. Your feedback is important to us and I have personally read all of your submissions. It's important that you see us taking your comments and using them to improving our service and website. I am therefore taking this opportunity to respond to your comments directly:
Disruption Information
One of the main annoyances that came up again and again in this survey was that the disruption information is not updated quickly or at all. The reason for this is because the system is currently only updated by a couple of members of staff who are trained in its use and its quality is therefore mixed. We will soon be training the control room staff in its use, so that they can update it directly. In addition, we are currently investigating a method of sending the same disruption information out as text messages to subscribers. Watch this space.
Timetables
A number of you commented that the downloadable timetables were too long as they contain every set of times (rather than general 'every 5 mins') and were still not large enough. We will work on this as a priority.
No details of future plans
There are no details regarding NET phase 2 as we (the operating company of NET) only have a contract to run Line One. However, we will be adding a page on the plans and a clearer link to the City and County councils website about phase 2 for more detail.
Errors in journey planner
Most of you fed back that the journey planner was working fine and that you like it. There were a couple of comments, though, that errors have been experienced. If users could please send us more details of the errors, we can then attempt to understand and fix them.
Navigation
The size of the site means that navigation can be difficult and many pages in the features/more about NET sections are not immediately visible. However, we will always post any changes to the news page and hope that people can still find these pages, whilst maintaining the visibility of important information (map, fares, times) for first time users.
Lack of contact details
We will make this more obvious with a link on the homepage. There is already a feedback page, but it is not on the homepage.
Name of site
Although we promote www.thetram.net we have also registered a series of other names such as www.nottinghamtram.com which can also be used to access the site.
Route map
We have recently improved this and hope this is now an easier to use part of the site.
More activities for children
We have, this week, launched the tram mural competition and this will be the start of further kids and schools activities in relation to NET.
Information on attractions
The 'Nottingham by tram' guide will be launched in print and on the web over the Summer, supported by a high-profile sponsorship on Trent FM. This is in the final stages of design.
I hope this has answered your comments, thanks again for the feedback. Also thank you to those who took the time to thank us for the quality of the site up to now. We will continue to improve and hope that we can deliver the best public transport website in the country to go with the best tram in the country!
