Nottingham Express Transit (NET) - Bus service to replace trams during routine track maintenance

A weekend timetable change has been announced for a small section of the tram network later this month to allow essential track maintenance.

There will be no service between Phoenix Park and Highbury Vale on Saturday and Sunday 25 and 26 September.

Phoenix Park services heading northbound will continue on the main line and terminate at Bulwell, while passengers travelling towards Clifton South from Highbury Vale branch can continue their journey by tram from Highbury Vale main line. All Clifton South trams will depart from Bulwell on the main line and a dedicated tram replacement bus service will be in operation between Bulwell and Phoenix Park.

The works are required because a section of track between Cinderhill tram stop and the junction with Millennium Way has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. This will involve the overhead power being isolated for the duration. Engineers will also use the opportunity to carry out tree maintenance on the line between Highbury Vale and Cinderhill.

A tram replacement service will be available at the affected stops. Staff will be on hand to assist and customer relations agents will be available via the tram stop help points.

Trevor Stocker, Operations Manager for NET, said: “This forms part of an ongoing plan of maintenance and we’ve deliberately identified a weekend so as to hopefully minimise disruption to our customers.

“We are committed to maintaining a safe network and these works will upgrade a key section of track on the northern end of the line.

“Over the weekend of September 25 and 26, all Phoenix Park trams will be redirected and terminate at Bulwell. A Sunday-service frequency of trams every 10 minutes will apply on both days to enable us to safely manage the timetable at Bulwell”.
