TRAMLINK, which operates Nottingham Express Transit (NET), has been announced as the travel partner of the World Masters Hockey European Championships, starting 30 June to 9 July 2023.

More than 50 teams, representing nine countries, including England, France and Germany, will compete in the tournament, held at the Nottingham Hockey Centre, with more than 150 games taking place across the five pitches.

Over the course of the ten-day event, spectators will be able to reach the competition site by tram, with the 'University of Nottingham' tram stop just a short two-minute walk away.

Alison Sweeney, marketing manager at Tramlink, said: “Sport is an important part of Nottingham’s history, and it’s something we’re really passionate about supporting. Following the success of last year’s Masters Hockey World Cups, which we were the title sponsors for, it’s great to welcome hockey back to the city and support the sport for the second year running for the World Masters Hockey European Championships.

“Throughout the upcoming tournament, we’ll be providing convenient and reliable transport for the many visitors attending the ten-day championships.

“It’s set to be another fantastic event, offering free family days out for sports lovers or budding young hockey players.”

The championship will see countries crowned in both the men’s and women’s competitions, which will be umpired by 47 officials from eight countries.

Simon Mason, commercial manager for the organising committee of the World Masters Hockey European Championships, said: “It’s brilliant to have NET as our official transport partner for another year. Their support is always so welcomed as it means even more sports fans can access the upcoming games quickly and easily each year.

“We’re really looking forward to what is set to be another brilliant tournament, where we’re expecting to welcome teams and spectators looking for a memorable summer activity, to sit back and enjoy.”
