Students in Nottingham can travel for less than £1 a day with the latest discounted academic year travel offer from Nottingham Express Transit (NET).

The limited-time deal launches on Monday 25 August and runs for eight weeks, giving all university and college students living in and around Nottinghamshire the chance to get unlimited daily tram travel during term time – 1 September 2025 to 31 July 2026 – for 68% less than a standard Student Day Ticket.

New and returning students will be able to purchase the discounted Student Academic Year tram pass through the NETGO! App, at the newly reduced price of £300 - a saving of £50.

For a limited time, school students can also benefit from an exclusive new offer on the Under 19 Academic Pass, saving £100 on journeys in the new academic year. Priced at £225 and only available through a special discount code created for participating schools, eligible students will be able to access unlimited tram travel for the equivalent of less than 70p a day.

Alison Sweeney, head of marketing at NET said: “Our discounted offer aims to help both new and returning students quickly get their transport sorted for the year, so all they have to worry about is planning which new coffee shops or bars they want to visit or which gigs they want to attend, rather than how they will get there or how much it might cost.

“At just 90p a day, it’s a really cost-effective way to get around the city, no matter how many journeys you make. Our network covers all university and college campuses’, lots of popular residential areas and the bustling city centre, so there will be lots of opportunities to make the most of the unlimited travel, whether you’re studying, visiting friends, shopping or eating out.

“To access these savings, university and college students need to download the NETGO! App, but any school students wanting to use our discounted Under 19 Academic pass should check with their school to see if they are planning to register their interest to receive a code.”

Further reductions on the discounted Student Academic Year tram pass will be on offer exclusively for university and college students who visit the NET stand at freshers’ fairs across the city.

The NET team will be at Nottingham College City Hub on 9 September, Nottingham High Pavement Sixth Form on 12 September, Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton campus on 15 September, Nottingham Trent University’s City campus on 17 and 18 September, and University of Nottingham on 22,23,24 and 25 September.

Operating seven days a week, 364 days a year, Nottingham’s tram network offers a sustainable and reliable transport option for the many people who use it each day. Safety is a priority, and NET has a number of measures and initiatives in place to help keep tram users and the wider city safe. These include well-lit stations and platforms, HD CCTV cameras and emergency help buttons on all trams and tram stops, as well as the ability to contact a member of the team discreetly through WhatsApp on 0115 824 6060.
