Nottingham’s tram network will be joining in noisy celebrations marking the start of the 2012 Olympics.

At exactly 8.12am on Friday, July 27, the city’s trams will sound their bells, along with other transport operators and churches across the nation.

The cacophony will ring out as the Games get underway in London.

Florian Le Loroux, Marketing Manager at NET, explained: “Organisers hope every bell in the UK will ring at the same time and the noise should be fantastic.

“We’re delighted to be able to play our part in helping make the start of the Games so memorable.”

To show its support for Team GB, the network will also be printing the Union Jack on the back of its tickets.

“We thought this would be a good way of getting behind our Olympians as they go for gold,” Florian added.
