The Nottingham Express Transit (NET) lifts at Station Street, which give access to the Nottingham Station tram stop, will be closed for eight weeks from Monday 22nd June to Friday 14th August while they undergo planned maintenance work.
The upcoming works are part of a routine renewal project, that will see the replacement of a range of the original components of the lifts, which have been in service since 2004.
Alternative lifts located in Nottingham Railway Station and the Nottingham Station car park will still be in operation, allowing tram users to still access the Nottingham Station tram stop.
Andy Downie, head of operations and safety at NET, said: “The upcoming maintenance work to our Station Street lifts have been on our radar for quite some time. Our lifts have been in operation for more than 20 years, and with that comes natural wear and tear. We’re always committed to ensuring we provide all our customers with a great service and exceptional levels of care and consideration. That extends not just to their experience onboard our trams, but also to the maintenance of our tram stops and lifts too.
“Our Station Street lifts have not been reflective of the standard we pride ourselves on, but we’re pleased to now be able to rectify that. We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the upcoming works, and we thank all our customers for their patience.”
Regular tram service will remain unaffected by the works, with trams still running from the Nottingham Station tram stop.
