Nottingham Express Transit (NET) continues to demonstrate its commitment to the local community, hosting a team family day focused on raising vital funds for local charities and strengthening connections with its stakeholders across the region.

Taking place at the NET depot, the day showcased its continued commitment to local charity initiatives and the community, with NET’s charity of the year, Nottinghamshire Mind, in attendance. The mental health charity was also joined by last year’s community hero winners, founder and CEO of the charity Switch Up, Dr Marcellus Baz BEM, and Pulp Friction which is a Nottingham-based charity that aims to empower people who have learning disabilities and autism to develop their social independence and work-readiness skills.

A highlight of the day included Pulp Friction’s iconic smoothie bike, which saw Pulp Friction members get the chance to work at a fun and engaging event, making smoothies with each pedal and bringing joy to all attendees during the day. NET’s long-standing partnership with Pulp Friction spans more than a decade, after the Pulp Friction choir performed on a moving tram in 2015.

Other activities during the day included a raffle which raised over £250 for Nottinghamshire Mind, which will be used to provide support, information and guidance on mental health to the local community.

Rebecca Horne, business engagement manager at NET, said: “We are always looking for ways to give back to the local community, as well as the people that help the network operate smoothly and safely every day. This is why it was great to be able to invite our employees to a day where they could enjoy time spent with their colleagues, family and friends, whilst also fundraising and supporting important community causes.

“It was also a lovely opportunity to welcome our charity of the year, community partners and regional stakeholders, who remain such an important part of our commitment to the local area.”

Connecting its employees to the important partners that provide the services and support that help keep the city moving safely, the NHS ‘Talking Therapies’ service, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service and Nottinghamshire Police were also all in attendance.

Their presence highlighted the range of services available to support both the wellbeing of staff and the wider community, whilst strengthening connections between employees and the organisations that play a vital role in keeping Nottinghamshire safe and supported.

Rebecca added: “We’re committed to doing what we can to supporting mental health at work. It’s a really important part of the culture we’ve worked hard to foster within our workforce. As such, it was brilliant to take that commitment one step further by inviting the likes of Nottinghamshire Mind and the NHS ‘Talking Therapies’ service to our family day to provide additional support and guidance to all out staff.”
