Eye-Catching Tram Promotes Innovative Community Club

An eye-catching tram wrap is highlighting the success of an awarding-winning community group that’s committed to enriching the lives of young people in Nottingham.

Over the past 12 months, NET has forged close links with the Pythian Club, providing sponsorship while engaging members in initiatives to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Now the partnership is set to be further strengthened following the recent unveiling of the ‘Pythian’ tram. Commercial Manager, Chris Williams is responsible for the network operator’s community activities and believes the club has a vital role to play in neighbourhoods served by the tram.

“We’re proud to be associated with an organisation that’s providing positive pathways for young people at risk of being affected by poverty, domestic abuse, drug use or mental health issues,” he explained.

“Through sport and music, the club has found an innovative and effective way of engaging with young people that fits with our own ambition to help make Nottingham a great place to live, work or visit.”

The recent winner of various awards - including the Nottingham Post Sport’s Community Award and the Football Association Community Project – the club is responsible for a wide range of activities run at New Basford Community Centre, the Forest Recreation ground, and Hope House in Beeston.

Conference facilities at the tram depot in Wilkinson Street has also played host to a number of workshops and educational events and both NET and the club have been active supporters of the ‘Kick it Out’ initiative to tackle racism. Ben Rosser, founder of The Pythian Club, commented:

“A massive thank you goes to NET for supporting us, and for promoting the work we do across Nottingham. “The stunning tram wrap will certainly promote the opportunities to take part in activities such as football, boxing and music that the club provides and encourage even more young people to get involved.

“This approach brings communities together and helps deliver youth-led change.”
