NET is backing the big push to protect local people from Covid-19 through the use of its Forest Park and Ride site as a vaccination centre.
People have already started to receive the vaccine at the centre which opened on Saturday 23 January.
Covid testing is also being offered at the site. Andrew Conroy, chief operating officer at NET, said: “The Forest Park and Ride site is an ideal choice for a vaccination centre, located near the centre of Nottingham with plenty of space and good access so it’s good to see it being used to help protect local people.
“It’s one of the ways in which NET is playing its part in the fight against the virus. The tram has been running throughout the pandemic helping key workers get around the city, particularly NHS staff travelling to the QMC. Staff have worked really hard to introduce a range of measures to help keep people safe.”
People travelling to be vaccinated can use tram to access the centre with regular services continuing and trams from every 10 minutes. The car park is still open and fully operational for NET customers.
All bookings for vaccinations should be done through the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Booking Service. The local vaccination service opened as part of the roll out of the COVID-19 national vaccination programme.
Recipients of the vaccine will be called forward in priority order as set out by the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
First priority at the site is for those over the age of 75 and frontline health and social care workers.
