NET raises more than £17,000 for local causes across the city.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) has revealed it raised over £17,000 for local charities in 2025, reflecting its commitment to supporting the Nottinghamshire community and making a difference to those in need across the county.

Our Dementia Choir was NET's 2025 charity of the year, which saw the network's group-wide initiatives focused on fundraising for the cause. A highlight was the three peaks challenge, which brought together NET staff from every part of the organisation to form a team, climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales and raising over £2,000 to support the choir and its members.

Alongside this, the 'Walk The Network’ initiative, which first launched in 2024 returned for its third year, with the team raising £1,000 for Our Dementia Choir through a sponsored walk totalling of twelve miles along the city’s tram tracks. Meanwhile, other fundraising activities over the course of the year saw staff help to raise an additional £1,500 for the cause.

Our Dementia Choir was founded in 2018 by local actress Vicky McClure and aims to highlight the transformative power music can have on the lives of those living with dementia. Most recently, activity saw Our Dementia Choir receive its very own named tram, thanks to Vicky McClure donating her named tram in the choir’s honour to help raise awareness of its impact across the city.

Further fundraising activity included a range of events to give back and make a positive impact to the lives of local residents. These included group-wide donations of £1,000 to the Strelley Family Fun Day, £1,000 to Switch Up and over £500 for Breast Cancer Now.

The team also donated £1,000 worth of food to the Aspley Food Bank, while individual fundraising efforts saw members of the network raise a total of over £2,500 through personal fundraising challenges, donations and events in support of charities and local causes such as Framework, Cancer Research and Our Military Veterans.
