NET's latest student tram deal makes daily travel less than £1
Students can save on their travel as they head back to study this September, as Nottingham Express Transit (NET) releases its latest discounted academic year travel offers.
The latest limited-time deal launches on Monday 24 August and runs for eight weeks, offering the Student Academic Year tram pass at the newly reduced price of £315 - a saving of £50.
This gives all university and college students living in and around Nottinghamshire the chance to get unlimited daily tram travel during the academic year – 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2027 – for 80% less than a standard Student Day Ticket, working out at just 94p a day. Those attending freshers’ fairs across the city can enjoy even bigger savings, with exclusive 'on the day' discounts reducing the price further.
School students can also save £100 on the Under 19 Academic Pass for a limited time, through another exclusive offer which launches on 24 August. Priced at £240 and only available through a special discount code created for participating schools, it gives eligible students access to unlimited tram travel for the equivalent of 72p a day.
Alison Sweeney, head of marketing at NET said: "Our offers for all students cover the academic year, but it's important to remember that they can be used to make everyday life easier too, beyond just travelling to study. Our passes can be used whenever people decide to use the tram, and as well as having stops at all university and college campuses, our network covers the city centre and other bustling areas like Beeston too. This helps new students discover all that Nottingham has to see and do, and keeps locals connected with friends and family.

Over time, these savings really add up, so people have more to spend on our city's brilliant bars, restaurants and independent shops – and won't need to worry about how they're getting home."
New and returning college and university students will be able to purchase the discounted Student Academic Year tram pass through the NETGO! app. School students must contact their school to learn if it is participating in the Under 19 Academic Pass discounted scheme, and schools looking to sign up can register their interest by emailing schools@tramlinknottingham.co.uk.
The NET team will be at a number of freshers' events across the city this September, including:
- Nottingham College City Hub on 8 September
- Nottingham High Pavement Sixth Form on 11 September
- Nottingham Trent University’s Clifton campus on 14 September
- Nottingham Trent University’s City campus on 16 and 17 September
- University of Nottingham on 21, 22, 23 and 24 September
