A ‘Chase the Tram’ charity run is taking place this Saturday, 10th October.
The main run be alongside the route of the NET tram network from Clifton South into the city centre – although some participants are now running or walking their own routes due to Covid.
The event is raising money for local charity Tracy’s Street Kitchen, with over £1,500 already raised in donations towards the £2,000 total, at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/regrunsmanchester.
Those running the route on the day will be abiding by social distancing rules and each runner will receive a medal sponsored by Trent Safety Services Ltd on completion.
Organisers Regina O’Reilly and Paul Merry, who are running the route this weekend from Clifton South to Nottingham Trent University stop, said:
“We organised the run as a way to raise money for Tracy’s Street Kitchen, which is managed by Tracy Dickinson-Wheeldon and volunteers who collect food throughout the week from local businesses, cook it in their homes and then feed about 200 people over the weekend. We want to be able to financially support the kitchen for 2020-2021”.
“The original plan was a bigger event but Covid has had an impact on numbers. However, we still hope to be able to reach our target of £2,000 and would welcome any more donations.”
