Tram Sets The Scene For Student Filmmakers

The story of two commuters who see each other every day across the tram tracks, before meeting properly at a bizarre support group, Alone Together is the work of local film students and is to be shown at the Nottingham Film and Food Festival (July 15–18).

Written and directed by Connor McCay and produced by Georgia Nettleton, both recent graduates from Nottingham Trent University, the film is expected to have a wider release on social media later in the year after featuring at other local and national festivals.

Georgia, who is also credited as director of photography, explained: “We’re really proud of the film and delighted that it’s premiere is here in Nottingham, and we’re also hoping it will be shown at the next Beeston Film Festival.

“The tram provides a key plot point, and we would like to thank NET for their support. As student filmmakers we are still learning a lot about the industry, and members of the NET team helped us through the process of obtaining permission to film on the network, which will help us in the future as we look at other locations.”

Alone Together, which stars other film students and local actors from Nottingham’s acclaimed Television Workshop, has already received positive reviews from members of the NET team treated to a sneak preview.
