Employees of Nottingham’s tram network are set to join the nation in paying tribute to the efforts of key workers during the coronavirus outbreak.
At 8.00pm on Thursday, all trams will come to a safe stop to allow staff and customers to join in applause for medical personnel, care workers and many others who are helping in the fight against Covid-19.
Paul Robinson, Managing Director, commented: “We all appreciate the efforts of NHS staff and all those who are caring for others or helping to keep us safe during these difficult times.
“Every Thursday night, the applause is getting louder for those on the frontline of the fight against the virus, and bringing services to a standstill for a couple of minutes will give people working or travelling by tram a chance to express their gratitude.”
The tram continues to play its part in keeping the city moving through these unprecedented times, running a robust service based on a Sunday timetable to help key workers.
Service levels reflect current levels of demand as people follow Government instructions to avoid non-essential travel, and measures have been introduced to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. Further details can be found at www.thetram.net.
Paul added: “We would also like to remind customers of the advice, ‘Stay at Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives’ and, if their journey is essential, they need to maintain social distancing at tram stops and while on board.”
